I never liked the graphics and yellow wheels on this Danbury Mint Wrecker. So, first I removed and painted the wheels, then used Goof Off to remove the decals. Then, I saw some different resin truck bodies on eBay so I ordered a few of them.
This wrecker had some issues when I bought it on eBay so, I thought it would be cool to convert it into an old dump truck. Disassembling this model was tedious but, since I wanted to change the color, it was necessary. I glued some styrene channel tubing to the frame to get the dump body at the right height.
Almost done reassembling the cab and beginning a little weathering. I ordered some vintage era decals that I want to apply before proceeding with the weathering…
….. and, voilå! One, old, well-used 1953 Chevy dump truck.
